awsome couple of dog days

Let's start with Saturday. We started our hunt about 6am. Kinda late start but we were waiting on the sun. It was a good crowd of us... about 13 of us. Anyway. we didn't have a slow day at all. We hit hogs like bam, bam, bam. We never stopped longer than 15 mins. We ended up with about 6 decent sized hogs and 1 piglet. We even got to turn Charlie loose on one.

Ok, now it's time for the better story... Sunday/today's hunt. We hunted on a new place today. We started about 8am. No big deal... There were a lot of us today too... about 12 of us. We had let some of the dogs out to hunt when we first started. Well, as we went along we noticed a nice size track in the road. We stopped, of course, and all the dogs on the ground went right. So we released our pack of "free dogs". Yes, we hunt we mutts (not name brands). Well they all went left. About 5 mins later it was ON!! They were bayed solid!! Wide open we went to them. TaterBug's hat flew off but we didn't have time to stop and get it. We got there and just so happened they had the bog bayed down right beside the road. It took two men just to flip her over. Then they called for handcuffs. We synched her down with one set. AS SOON AS we got her tied up they had another big boar bayed maybe 100 yards from where we had number one down. Tanner sent his bulldog in to it and what we didn't know is that they called for another one. They managed to get him down with just one and called for another set of handcuffs. I only had one set left so we had to borrow a set from Scotty. Got those two loaded up and heard the dogs .8 of a mile bayed again. Off we went and to our surprise Travis was already there and had the hog tied. Hog number 3 down! We loaded up and went a little ways more. Turned every bay dog we had out and every damn one of them bayed up. Trav and dad went to one bay. We didn't know they were calling for bulldogs. They called on Travs cell phone and said they needed help. Well i took my bulldogs to the wrong bay so we had all the bulldogs with us and they had all the bulldogs with them. We had one in a deep creek. We finally fished her out. What we didn't know was that trav and dad had 2 big monsters bayed in the other end of the same DEEP creek. Trav ended up having to stab his and they got the other tied up. While all that was happening, Tanner and TaterBug went to Tanner's dog who was bayed by himself and got them a hog of their own. And that, my friends, makes all 7 of the hogs we caught today.

I just want everyone to know that none of the meat gets wasted. We cleaned 2 already. 2 went to the "Beast Feast Celebration". The other 3 will be put to very good use at a later date.

what a day....

pretty decent day... all were in the briar thickets but it was cold enough today to wear our thick jackets and that helped a lot.

First hog of 2014 with dogs

We finally got our Illinois friends to go hunting with us and our dogs. It was about 34 degrees and the first hog we bayed went across a slew. In the water we went. We finally got to the hog and one of the women from Illinois got to stab it. I think we converted them all over to dog hunting. Anyway, we only caught one. We were wet and freezing. So now I don't feel too hot but I'm headed back to catch big nasty today!!
