well there's not much of a story today... We caught 3 good boar hogs and was done by 7am. 2 of them were bayed and caught at one time. All 3 of the bay dogs we took were cut; hound dog got a cut pretty bad in the chest, tanner got cut wide under her mouth, and black betty got a little cut on her booty. Zack's dog got cut under his mouth too, but nothing too serious. Yall will just have to deal with all these pictures this time!

I know i'm a little behind, but i'm gonna catch you all up. Saturday we were asked to hunt in Nanafalia. About 45 minutes from our house. My alarm went off at 3:50am and the day was started. Dogs got loaded, collars were turned on, and we headed that way. Me and Dad met Tanner and Zack at Comptons store in Nanafalia and drove the rest of the way to the place where we were supposed to hunt. We parked in a corn field and loaded the dogs into the ranger and on the four wheelers. Three guys showed up without rides so we put 2 in the back with the dogs and 1 rode in the front with us. Anyway, we first turned the dogs off and they bayed right off the bat, down in a DEEEEEEEP gulley. I sure am glad there were plenty of guys there because i didn't want to go down in that hole. They came back out with about a 100 pounder and we thought we were gonna have a really good day. Boy, were we wrong! That was the only hog we caught all day, but one is always better than none. Sorry there is no picture but there wasn't enough time for that.

Sunday wasn't much better. Same routine, alram clock went off at 3:50am, dogs, collars, ect. Just me and dad goin solo this mornin at our home turf of Bluerock. Turned the dogs out in the big opened field and dad decided he would walk into the woods a bit. Well i got bored and picked some flowers and stuck them in the truck.

Then i decided i'd take a few pictures of the sunrise!

After that we had just about given up on the dogs. Decided they weren't gonna hunt anymore but we decided we would just ride around and maybe they would strike something. Turns out, we were right! They finally bayed one in the thickest of thick briar thickets, I'm talkin the briars would be so thick they would stop the ranger and we would have to back up, move over a little bit, and take a runnin start to run the briars over. The dogs not only bayed through the briars thickest but across to creeks and in the middle of a third. Anyway after a loooong and tiring struggle we got the hog down and tied up.

However, by the time we got the hog, the dogs, and got outta the thicket we were runnin behind. We did 70 and 80 mph all the way back to the barn and just as we made it to the dirt road the tongue on the trailor snapped and the trailer drove itself into the ground. We had to unload the ranger right there in the middle of the road. Anyway, got to barn unlaoded the dogs, fed, and loaded the hog onto the truck and headed for the hog pen. Got the hog untied and in the pen and flew to the house to get ready for church which started at 11am but we didn't make it until 11:30am. We got the preachin part but we missed all the singin.

After church we got ready to go back the river and chill out on the sandbar. Loaded the bulldogs, some ribs, some sausage, and of course the ice chest. Got down there and started the grill up right off the bat.

Anyway, we had a good time with a good family and i got some good pictures of my baby boys too!!
Charlie!

Jase!

Also played in the sand a little bit!!

My computer has been having technical difficulty so I'm a little behind. So I'll just start at the begining. On Tuesday I took our newest puppies Candi and Travy, Chiwatta, and the bulldogs Charlie and Jase to the hog pen around 2pm. Charlie and Jase caught through the wire and the puppies were pretty good for that to be the first time they ever saw a hog. Anyway, afterwards we took Charlie, Jase, Hound, and Whitey tothe river with Bo, Tanner, Zack, Ryan, and their dogs. We hunted from 4pm to 12am and only caught/killed one pig. I have a picture but i can't for thelife of me get it off my phone. Sorry :(

So, on to today. Alarm clock set for 3:50am, left home at 4:30am, turned the dogs loose around 6am. We caught one hog right off the bat. He was around 100 pounds. After that, the day went to mush. Dos took off, Tanner went after them, bulldog quit, and basically it was a wasted day after that. We still had a pretty decent huntand we appeciate people letting us hunt on their place. Hopefully there will be a next time and we will do even better.

We got a good early start this morning. Just me and dad this morning. Thought we would make a quick lap around the hay feild before unloading the ranger and tieing the dogs. It turns out we weren't prepared. Our two biggest bay dogs Hound and Whitey jumped over the side of the truck and lit in after a pack of about 7 hogs. It took about 5 minutes for them to catch the little piglet that got our morning started.

This little piggy had a bad morning!

The sun had just risen above the trees when that little fella was brought down. We dropped him off in the shade with the truck and started the hunt for the big hogs! About 8a.m. we struck pay dirt. The sound of the dogs baying is always a thrilling sound but this morning was even better. I turned both of my pits aloose and sent my pride and joy Charlie in to the hog with his buddy Jase not far behind.
Charlie the taller and Jase the baby. Hard to believe that they are only 3 pounds apart. ALL MUSCLES!

I knew when Charlie latched on it was over. The hog started squeeling and the race was on. Running through the vines and briars, get to your dogs, pull them off, tie them to a tree, tie the hog, breathe. This was Jase first bigger hog to be released on and for his second time to catch he's spot on. Both bullies caught side by side; Jase on the cheek and Charlie on the ear.

Check out the damage to this hog where they latched on.

The rest of the morning was a bore. But for 4 hours we had a good day and we are very proud of all of dogs today!

A couple of weekends ago I left to go on my senior cruise. While I was gone I left my father in charge of our hog hunting activities. The day I left i got a call from him saying that a hog had killed Taterbug's bulldog Pooky and they had used Charllie to catch this monster hog.
Trying to put pooky back together.

                                                      The monster!
Anyway, this hog ripped the shoulder off of Charlie's cut vest. However, nobody noticed it and when i got back we went on a hunt to WoodsBluff not thinking anything was wrong. I finally noticed it while we were waiting on the bay dogs to strike gold, but by then it was too late. Well later on we run across a hog with huge teeth and I turned Charlie aloose. When ended up loosing communication with and the dog he was with. After hours of hunting for Charlie we found him running down the road. The only bad part was that the hog had found the faulty part of the cut vest and used it to his advantage.

lots of blood!
He got 5 staples in the top hole and 3 in the bottom. He's fine now and he's back to catching the hogs we send him into. :)
So, last Monday my dad, Bo, and me decided we would go hunting to give Bo's dog a trial run. When we got to the river it started raining and it finally stopped around 1:30 p.m. We took our chances and started the hunt. My father and I only took two bay dogs and my two bulldogs. We turned our two bay dogs out and the left on a hog for three hours. When we finally found them they had give out and we didn't get the hog. Bo decided he would turn his trial dog out in thickest part of where we hunt and finally after fours hours he got on a hog. I had already taken the cut vests off of my bulldogs when Bo called for a bulldog. I thought about it because my biggest bulldog Charlie already has a hole in him from a hog he got on a couple of weeks ago, but i sent im anyway. He went in and Charlie and Bo's bulldog caught at the same time. Dad and Bo finally got a good grip on the hog and pulled him out. Normally we tie the hogs up and keep them alive but it was late and we were all tired so bo stabbed and killed him. It was a long night but at least we didn't leave empty handed.

He might not have been a very big hog, but he had some pretty good teeth.
