Fourth of July

There's nothing like a good hog hunt of the Fourth of July!
The morning started off slow. We went to a fellow hunters place and there didn't seem to be any hogs. So, after wasteing a couple hours there we loaded back up and went to our usual place; the river. For a while we thought we were gonna get stumped again. We had all but given up. We decided to unloadthe dogs and let them run back to the truck and about 5 seconds later they had a sow bayed and caught.

After we got the hog loaded up, we were headed out and had left Big Gregg and his 2 boys, Hunter and Justin, a little behind. When they caught up Gregg was yelling something about a dog so we hit the brakes. Turned out we didn't have any brakes. When we finally coasted to a stop we realized we had been dragging Charlie for about 300 yards. Luckily he still had his cut vest on, the ground was muddy, and his collar is too big so it slid off of him. He was fine, but when we loaded him back up he laid down and didn't get near the edge. So we were ready to start again, or so we thought. Big Gregg's four wheeler decided it wasn't going to crank. We spent a good half hour trying to get it to crank but failed miserably. It is now 11:30 and we are all gettin kinda hungry. So, we just decided to chain it to the ranger and drag it the rest of the way to the truck. We got to the truck loaded the dogs, loaded the hog, and rehoooked the broke down four wheeler to the running four wheeler. Big gregg and his boys went on out to the road to where they had parked and me and dad went on in the double gates to leave our brakeless ranger and trailor. On our way out we met some people comin in to go to the sandbar. We rushed home, unloaded dogs, unloaded the hog, changed clothes, and went back to the river to hangout on the sandbar. We had a pretty good crowd. We left about 8:30 pm and went to the camp and it's a ggod thing we did because it started flooding. We played one game of Texas Hold 'Em at the camp and we called it a night. I was the big winner in the end, so I was happy. It was a good day: caught a hog, ate good food, and won the card game!
